Not as bad as they say

I agree - i've eaten here before and it's your bog-standard chain pub type food. It lives up to expectations, not gourmet but what do you think you'll get for less than a tenner! However, given the choice, this wouldn't be my first. But I wouldn't dismiss it if you're in the area - it's not as bad as some say!

    Cheap and Cheerful!

Feel like this place is getting a bit of a slating! It is a chain pub and it's attached to a premier inn, what do you expect?!
When my partner and I stayed at the premier inn before we moved here ( we were house hunting for 2 days) we are at the pub because it was easiest as we didn't really know what chippenham had to offer.
We found the food to be of the quality you pay for it. Actually to be honest I was pleasently suprised by my veggie, quiche with salad. It was much nicer than I was expecting!
It's on a par with Whetherspoons, cheap convenient food...I would strongly suggest plumping for the most expensive wine though, as the cheapest is revolting!
This is within walking distance of my house and whilst it wouldn't be my first choice, it's easy and convenient if you can't be bothered to cook, or fancy a drink.
I agree about the children, but it is a "family friendly" pub, geared up for children with a big play area both indoors and outdoors.
In short, if you've got kids, you want a cheap meal out, go for it!
I find it fine for a quiet evening / afternoon drink if i sit out the front where there tend to be less children.
If you don't like children and are a bit fussier with your food head in to town.
You get what you pay for! But generally this place is fine and doesn't deserve the awful reviews!

    The worst dining experience ever

Been there sadly three times, awful food, lots of badly behaved children running around you constantly along with the din of fruit machines, and ice cream dispensers etc. The food is basically service station M way standard , and the decor is pretty much tired travel lodge in the 90's effect. Service poor again M Way service station standard. Not particularly cheap, and generally nothing good comes to mind to mention.

    I cannot STAND this place.Of the 4 or 5 times I have..

    I cannot STAND this place.

Of the 4 or 5 times I have visited, it has been a disappointment.

Sadly it always seems to be full as they are servicing the hotel guests next door or capturing the market for people who want a really cheap meal out.

That's what I detest. The food quality is below canteen standards and the place is generally over run with families who cannot keep their children from running around whilst you are eating!!

Not my thing at all, but if you want a cheap 'get it down you' meal, go for it.

    Don't say I didn't tell you so!!
