I went to The Brunel for lunch before heading down to the River Festival. The food was great and the staff were friendly. I highly recommend going there for the food.

The post which says 'award winning food' must be having a laugh. On Sunday we decided to take a walk down to the Brunel for lunch, wish I hadn't bothered. My wife and two son's had what was below average pub grub at best while my 'hand carved Sunday roast with seasonal veg' was no better than one of those awful microwave roast beef platters. 2 thick slices of rubbery beef, roast potatoes which looked nice and crispy but were in fact soggy as they had probably been warmed up in the microwave, peas, carrots, one broccoli floret and a cold Yorkshire pudding.
When the guy collected the plates and asked how the meals were I said the roast was naff to say the least and he replied with 'when you have a roast dinner out it's never the same as you do at home'.
My advise would be to stick to the drinks and then go to Iceland for a boil in the bag!!

The Brunel on New Road is a large and spacious sports bar in Chippenham that is a popular late night destination. At The Brunel they often have various drink offers available as well as serving a good cup of coffee. You can also now dine here from their award winning food menu or enjoy a relaxing drink with free wifi enabling you to work or simply browse inside. With Sky Sports available covering live football, this pub covers all angles.
Always packed on a Friday/Saturday night. And some Thursdays. Not particularly cheap but some decent offers - opens past midnight so makes a good option for a night out without clubbing. Food's not bad either, basic pub food.
