Historic, clean and friendly
The Bear is a wonderful place. The building itself is an amazing historic building with stunning architecture, while its full of an immensely friendly atmosphere since its a hugely popular place with the locals. As an inn its really top class too the landlord is so friendly and helpful, the rooms really nice and comfortable, and the food very nice and fresh. Its also great value for money for a stay, especially considering the other options around here.

This will always be one of my 'local' pubs whenever I am in Chippenham, as my friends and I come here regularly to catch up, because of the good atmosphere.
The refurbishment a number of years ago has made the bar area feel a lot more up to date and modern, and the lounge atmosphere is relaxing for a mid week drink.
It tends to get a little crowded over the weekends, but always a good venue to start (or finish!!) a night out.By bluenoseneil at 06:43 on 15/02/10
