I'm fed up with Cyclists on the pavement....& don't start me on the boy racers!

I was sent flying the other day by someone riding a bicycle on the pavement. The road markings didn't show that it was a cycle path. When I asked a Policeman about it he seemed totally disinterested.
I have since founfd out that Cycling on footways (a pavement at the side of a carriageway) is prohibited by Section 72 of the Highway Act 1835, amended by Section 85(1) of the Local Government Act 1888. This is punishable by a fixed penalty notice of £30 under Section 51 and Schedule 3 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
Is this a problem for other people? Why don't the police enforce the law?

I agree. I'm all for people doing their bit to save the world by getting on their bikes to cut their carbon footprint etc etc. But i'm starting to think a world full of cyclists might be worse! Holding up traffic, taking people out on pavements, our road system's not well-equipped for it...
