A 41-year-old Chippenham man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of missing Donovan Van Lill.

Following the arrest on Friday afternoon the man appeared before North Wiltshire Magistrates in Chippenham this morning and has now been remanded in custody for further questioning until 4pm tomorrow, following an application by the CPS for more time.

Police have confirmed that no formal charges have been made and the body of Mr Van Lill has not been found.

The 29-year-old went missing from his Pewsham home on March 3. An investigation was launched after he failed to show up for work for three days running at the Olympiad Leisure centre, when he is a personal trainer.

Friends and family of South African born Mr Van Lill have been carrying out their own searches over the past two weeks but there is still no trace of him.

He disappeared leaving behind his wallet, car keys, mobile phone and was still logged into his Facebook account on his home computer.

Further interviews will be conducted throughout today, and searches of premises in the Chippenham area are continuing.
