Concern is growing for missing Chippenham man Donovan Van Lill after he went missing over a week ago.

The South African born 29-year-old from Pewsham disappeared last Tuesday from his home, leaving behind his wallet, phone, passport and belongings.

He even left his laptop computer plugged in, which was still logged on to his Facebook page.

Police were notified when he failed to turn up for work as a fitness instructor at the Olympiad Leisure Centre for three days in a row.

Friends of Mr Van Lill have been appealing for help to find him all week, even launching their own search of the areas surrounding his home in Blackthorn Mews, and putting up posters across the town.

Police have now admitted that they are baffled by the disappearance, and have now upgraded his missing person status from low risk to medium.

His bank account has not been used, and his girlfriend, who is on holiday in Egypt has confirmed that he was not on her flight.

Friend of Mr Van Lill, Bonita Andre said he is a popular, outgoing and dependable man: “Don goes to work every day and he would never have a day off or anything – he is such a goody two-shoes. He is a very sociable person and loves talking to people in work – even if he was ill he would go in.”

A Facebook page has been set up to appeal for information. And anyone who thinks they may be able to help with enquiries should contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000
