An extra £1 million is to be pumped into fixing Wiltshire's roads after they were badly affected by severe winter weather.

Wiltshire council had already agreed to increase spending on the county's roads by £650,000 in the budget for 2010/11 but has now allocated a further £1 million.
The news will come as a welcome relief for Chippenham People, who have recently been using this site to voice their frustration about the town's roads being in a dire state.
Council leader Jane Scott said: "It has been really difficult to find this extra money but we believe roads are a priority, so I’m pleased that we have been able to release this funding. The weather over the last two winters has been unusually bad and has caused severe damage to our roads."
"The velocity repairer can fill and seal about 200 square metres of road defects each day as compared with the 18 square metres using conventional equipment. We intend to deploy a third unit which will significantly increase the repairs we can carry out."
What do you think about Chippenham's roads? Is this good news? Or do you think the council still need to do more? Let us know here...

Sorry fell down a pothole in the tripe writer . The first sentence should read:
It's good the Wiltshire intends to fill holes, without too big a hole in their budget.

ReportIt's good the Wiltshire intends to fill holes, with too bis=g a hole in their budget. BUT when will the deep potholes be dealt with in the A420 at Ford, and again the A420 between The Shoe and Ford? We have a broken spring on our car that results from a series of Wiltshire, BANES and Sth Glos potholes that often couldn't be avoided by steering round them due to oncoming traffic..
