A drugs raid in Chippenham has lead police to two arrests after a large amount of illegal substances were found.

 

A 45 year old man and a 40 year old woman, both from Chippenham, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs. They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

 

Officers carried out the raid under warrant on Friday November 20 in the Wood Lane area.

 

Large quantities of class A and B drugs were discovered. It is believed they were a mixture of cocaine, herbal cannabis and either amphetamines or ecstasy tablets.

 

The search also led officers to a further address in Chippenham where around a dozen cannabis plants and equipment for growing the drug were discovered and seized.

 

Acting Sergeant Alan Wilkinson said: “I am confident that these seizures have made an impact on the supply of drugs locally and I hope that it sends a clear message to anyone intent on selling drugs that Wiltshire Police are committed to taking action against them.”

 

“There is often a clear link between drugs misuse and acquisitive crime and I want the community to feel safe, satisfied and confident that police are working hard to tackle drug use and the criminality surrounding it.”

 

“We do not underestimate the effect that drugs use has on people and their families. I appreciate that there are some who may have fallen into a cycle of drugs use, but there are many partner agencies that we can put people in touch with who can help to rehabilitate them.”

 

“We will take positive action against anyone we believe to be dealing drugs and would like to speak to anyone who may have information on those offering drugs for sale.”
