The second Chippenham Dragon Boat Race will take place on the River Avon at Monkton Park, Chippenham, on Saturday 10 July 2010. For the 2010 event, the Rotary Club of Chippenham Wiltshire Vale, who promoted the 2009 event, have joined forces with their sister club, the Rotary Club of Chippenham who will be running their successful 'Art In The Park' family fun day on the same site on the same day. "The plan is very simple", said Chippenham Wiltshire Vale club member Graham Stow, "They'll organise the shore-side event, whilst we take care of things on the water".

By bringing the dragon boat race forward from the August bank holiday weekend to 10 July, the event falls within school/college 'term time', and

avoids both the main holiday season and the start of the football and

rugby seasons, thus maximising the number and type of teams that can

enter.

So far the 2009 Chippenham Dragon Boat Race event has raised over £9,000 for charity and, incredibly, the total is still rising.
