A cheque for £1000 was presented to the Wiltshire charity, which provides a free home security service for vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the community and those aged 60+.
The Bobby Van staff can help people feel safe and confident by assessing home security needs and installing equipment following burglaries and domestic violence.
Referrals are made to the Trust from organisations including Wiltshire Police, Age Concern and Social Services. However, anyone who fits Bobby Van’s criteria and has concerns over their personal and home safety can refer themselves to the Trust.
Edgar Evans representing the Cooperative Group, South West region presented Alan Weston, Manager of the Bobby Van Trust with the cheque at Chippenham Police Station on Friday January 28.
The funds will be spent on a wide range of materials used in the day-to-day security upgrading of homes within Wiltshire and Swindon.
Mr Weston said: “It is a tribute to all of the people involved in our work at Bobby Van Trust that we have been chosen to receive this funding.
“We feel that the service we provide is second to none. All of the funds given are spent in Wiltshire to provide for the vulnerable and needy and obviously The Cooperative Group Community Fund recognised this.”
Mr Evans added: “The Co-op has great pleasure in supporting the Bobby Van Trust. It shows the value of our community dividend project, which seeks to put back from our profits something to benefit our members and the community in general.”
