Arrest after Womad sex assault claims

Police arrested an 18-year-old man after an allegation was made of a sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl at the Womad Festival in Wiltshire on Sunday.

The man, from Chippenham, was released on police bail pending further inquiries. Police said crime in general was down at this year’s festival, at Charlton Park, near Malmesbury.

Of the 17 crimes reported, 12 were detected soon after, and 18 people were arrested, mainly for theft and drug offences.
