The police released this moving tribute to Jamie Walker, who was one of the first victims of this tragic crash:
-
Jamie Walker, who died tragically in the early hours of New Year’s Eve 2010
Ian, Lisa and
Billy Walker, the loving Father, Mother and brother of
Jamie have paid tribute to their much loved, much missed but always remembered
son and brother, whose life was tragically cut short at the tender age of 17 at
the same time as his best friend Frankie Bowyer, and friend George Forrester in
the early hours of New Year’s Eve 2010.
Jamie, a
dedicated, lifelong Leeds United supporter, had a passion for football, having
been a key figure with both FC Chippenham where he played alongside George
Forrester and Jack Williamson, who we hope and pray speedily
recovers. Jamie more recently played for Chippenham Town under 18’s and Futsal. He was a well-rounded and sensible boy with aspirations to join the
Royal Air Force.
Jamie was a
pupil at King’s lodge primary school, Abbeyfield secondary school, and more
recently, The City of Bath College, where he was studying sports exercise and
science.
Jamie’s Mother
Lisa said “Jamie was an amazing boy, my little baby who always put a smile on
my face. My handsome beautiful boy. Things will never be the same, we are all
shattered and lost without him”.
Jamie’s Father
said “Jamie was a loving son and friend, who always had so many good friends
because of his charming personality . He had a wicked sense of humour and
always had the capacity to make me laugh. I am absolutely devastated. My
beautiful son, how can any parent ever recover after something like this?”
Ian and Lisa
can never thank their family and friends enough for their continuing support
and love. Jamie loved his Grandparents, Aunts Uncles and Cousins very much, and
knows they will all miss him terribly.
Jamie’s family
have been absolutely overwhelmed by the depth of feeling and support offered by
all of Jamie’s friends, who have transformed the shelter in the local park,
where the boys socialised, into a touching memorial to the boys. Ollie, another
of his best friends, said “Jamie was a huge part of my life, he would come
round my house and play on X-box for hours. He always knew how to cheer me up.
We had great times on our holidays in Cornwall and Tenerife”. He was more of a
brother than a friend and meant so much to me. The loss of Jamie is a daily
struggle and I will always love him.”
Chelsi,
Jamie’s long term girlfriend of 2 years said “I loved him very much, he
always made me laugh and we had so much fun together. We recently went sledging
together, and camping in the summer. Memories I will always cherish. He will
always be with me in my heart and I will always be glad he was in my life,
whether it be watching Toy story, his favourite film, or going out together”.
