Broadband speed in Chippenham is a touchy subject for some, especially if you're not getting what you pay for or you're not getting any sort of signal at all.

And judging by the data supplied by this new broadband speed checker it seems Chippenham is blighted by some very mixed signals when it comes to the internet.

According to the data the town centre has the best mbps speed with most areas receiving between 4 and 16 mbps (yellow). Although the coverage looks pretty sparse from the map, so some areas may fall under what's known as 'notspots'. In particular areas around Cepen Park South, Patterdown and up toward Frogwell.

Does this sound about right? Let us know if you live in the area and have poor broadband internet speeds.

Another large 'hotspot' appears to cover the south east end of Pewsham and Cepen Park North.

Slow coverage, so speeds of between 0 and 0.5 mbps seems to affect most of the west side of Chippenham (the red dots) and the only areas that seem to benefit from speeds of 16 mbps and above (green spots) are to the east of the town centre up to about Monkton Park.

So, how do you find the speeds in Chippenham? Living in Pewsham can be pretty poor, i find. But that's with Talk Talk. And this map takes dates from BT so that's worth remembering.

And it is based on estimates and averages. So may not represent 100 % accuracy.

But it gives a good indication of what you can expect.
