Dragon Boat Race teams compete on the River Avon in Monkton Park, Chippenham (10am - 04.30pm) in 40 foot long boats decorated with a dragon's head and tail in a series of sprint races over a 250m course to have fun and raise money for charities, and the fastest teams battle it out in a grand final race. Boats, paddles, bouancy aids, helmsmen, and tuition, are all provided. It's a lot of fun and most teams that took part in 2009 have booked again for 2010. Food and drink will be available and a beer/Pimms tent licence has been granted. Visit http://tinyurl.com/2bc9avp for further information if you want to enter a team (prior booking essential) or just come along on the day and spectate (free entry for spectators). Teams consist of 17 persons (16 paddlers plus a drummer), but 20 person team squads are recommended. Entry Fee £399 per team (£299 per under 18 teams). Dragon Boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition over 2000 years old and is one of Britains most competitive water sports. It's a great way to raise money and it's exciting, colourful, and fun! No experience required!
