Every so often, I take a walk with friends along the cycle track from Pewsham to Lacock, and look at the seemingly impossible task that the Canal group have set themselves.Did the walk on New Year's Day and was amazed at the progress being made on the Canal - there is now something like a mile or so of recognisable water filled Canal, with cycletrack/tow path in place, and it is definitely a feature. Well done to all concerned - when might we see a boat or two on there.
One disappointment is that the footpath is still cut off at the Lacock end necessitating a muddy diversionary route alongside Camilla's place. Can't the local authority and the landowner get together on this - all it needs is a bit of goodwill, and the link will be of great benefit to the community. This could be the Big Society at work! Posted some phot's of the canal. Dollery

We used to take our little lad in his pushchair from Chippenham to Lacock along the canal, have a spot of lunch in Lacock and then drive home. It was good exercise for us and a bit of an adventure for him. Now that the path diverts half way, the new path is not even close to suitable for pushchairs with small wheels. As dollery says, can't the relevant landowners and authorities come to some arrangement and re-enable this once very useful facility.
