It seems Chippenham is suffering from an increase in graffiti. Over the weekend the wall at the end of terrace which my house faces has been completely covered in 'tags' and I've started to see these tags all over town, but particularly in residential areas. It makes me feel like I live in a town where certain people have no pride in their area and it has instantly made my road feel scummy and unloved, at least to me. Has anyone else noticed this and has anyone experience of getting the council to clean it up even if it's on private property?

The council will not normally help clear up Graffiti on private property, and if they do they will probably charge!

I agree we have a generation who does not care about their immediate environment and that is thanks to lack of discipline at home and in schools (Another Labour Legacy - Thanks a lot Blair)

One example is My neighbour, a young single mother, who has been provided a nice flat for her and her child at the expense of the tax payer. Does she have pride in these expensive facilities she has ben given? No, she has taken to leaving rubbish and recycling, outside her front door and in the stairwell. Some of this has been there since Christmas.

Another example is the child (Could not be more than 10) who deliberately dropped his coke on the floor of Emery Gate shopping centre, within site of a bin! When I told him to pick it up and throw it away, all i got was a mouthful of abuse.
