Chippenham Police are Losing The Crime War

From their own statistics, it would appear that the Police are losing the battle against Anti Social Behaviour, despite they themselves claiming that they are cracking down.

If the Police are cracking down, how come Anti-Social Behaviour has increased from 90 incidents in December 2010, 110 in January 2011, 107 in February, Zero in March (Not True), and 152 in April.

I know for a fact that the Zero figure in March is not true, because I have reported myself at least two incidents to them.

This problem is only going to get worse as the budget cuts bite deeper in to Police numbers and morale.

On top of this, whilst Robbery & Violent Crime is pretty stable, Vehicle Crime has more than doubled rising from 7 reported incidents in December to 18 in April. Burglary has doubled from 7 to 14.

The total reported crime level has risen from 169 in December to 264 in April. What are the police going to do in regards to these rising crime levels?

Probably Nothing.

I generally do look on the bright side, even though as I reply to your comment, the clouds have obscured the sun. What gets me as a someone who is suffering from the ASB that is currently blighting the area that I live, is the fact that the Police are not taking the issue seriously.

My calls about ASB have gone unlogged, and are not showing up in the statistics, they Police have ignored requests and even letters from our very own MP Duncan Hames, about the very same ASB.

This despite much publised promises by the police that they will respond to reports of Anti Social behviour within 3 days.

It is low level crime like ASB that lead to more serious crimes being committed. That has been proven again and again over the years, yet they seem to be forgetting that lesson.

More reports of anti social behaviour last week on Sheldon Road - a car windows smashed. I know the police have to prioritise what they can/can't respond to and they weigh it up depending on the seriousness but sometimes it does strike me that there's no logic behind their response. Some things get ignored yet some reactions are disproportionate. I think town centre ASB is their priority with weekend violence etc.

I wonder what Inspector Steven Cox, thinks he is upto. He is the Sector Commander who is responsible for Chipopenham, yet where is he in all this. He probably doesn't care, because he doesn't live here.
