I have sent Duncan an email with the link to this post, requesting his reasoning for changing his mind, and an explanations to why we should trust him, as he has gone back on his word once already. As yet he has not replied, but for now I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he is busy in the run up to christmas. We will see if he bothers to reply.
Hi mjhudson,
I think you have forgotten one vital fact. He has now been elected. He's made all his promises and kissed all his babies, and now he's got the job. He is no longer beholden to us, he is now a creature of his party. He will do *Exactly* what his party elders tell him to do. If you don't believe me, look up his voting record:
http://tinyurl.com/2c6dw7f
He is down as: "Never rebels against their party in this parliament"
Modern politicians seem to have completely lost track of the fact that this is supposed to be a "Representative Democracy". ie they are supposed to represent their constituents, even if they or their party disagrees with the local consensus.
The sooner we get some form of AV in place, the sooner we can vote for the people we actually want as an MP, rather than just the least worst of the old tired parties. That will be a wake up call for the glib word-mongers we see lined up in today's parliament. Particularly the likes of Mr Hames.

Hi Andy, you are of course right. It is a shame that as a new MP, he has decided to rid himself of a backbone and do everything his masters tell him too, just like a good slave should.
It's a shame he seems to have forgotten that it's his constituents that he should be working for, not Nick Clegg or David Cameron.
Its interesting Mr Hames was voted in because people vote for colours or brands effectively, so he was likely unless he really screwed up, to win in Chippenham, however since he failed in several previous attempts, and basically will only be in chippenham as a way of staying in parliament, as he does not live in chippenham, has no connection to the area, and is a full time career politician. Its sad but note this, Mr Hames can never ever give a straight answer to what i is he has actually ever worked at , i asked this several times during his election and not once did anyone say he was a salesman/plumber/engineer whatever, as he has only ever been a politician. I was sad to see that the Conservative didn't win as he at least has some experience of business, employing people, and life. Sadly Chippenham voted in someone who has very little of this kind of experience. I did vote Tory btw. Finally does Duncan Hames ever express an opinion publicly ref Birds Marsh ? or the development opposite Monkton Park which are deeply unpopular locally ? I wold be interested to se a opinion for once .

Jonnyboy,
In defence of Duncan Hames, he does live in his constituency. Whilst it is called the Chippenham constituency, it includes Corsham, where he has lived for quiet a while.
That is more than can be said for Wilfred EJ, who is a Devon Farmer.
I too normally Vote Tory, but for once I voted for the local man, much to my regret!
I have managed to get DH involved in an ongoing Anti Social Behavior issue where I live. So far in this issue, he has been performing well, and I will continue to update people about that. What has disappointed me about him, is that he u-turned on the tuition fees and has not justified why.
Here ends his defence
£300 - £340 p day
£55-70,000 + benefits
£30k - £50k pa + Bonus + Pension + Benefits
