Wiltshire girl dies from skiing accident in Austria

A Wiltshire girl has been reported to have died from head injuries after skiing into a tree in the Austrian Alps near Tirol while on holiday with family. 

10 year old Jemima Prees believed to be from the Chippenham area, Wiltshire was unable to stop before skiing into an off-piste area.

It is reported her father and brother attended to her aid.

The girl, who was wearing a helmet, suffered head and upper body injuries and was airlifted to Innsbruck Hospital. 

It has been reported the girl died later in hospital following the accident on Sunday.

A spokesperson from Batheaston Medical Centre where Jemima's mother Karen works as a GP said: "We are all extremely upset and deeply saddened by the news that unfolds about the tragedy involving the daughter of one of our GPs."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at such a difficult time."
