Sheldon School recruiting two parent governors

Sheldon School is advertising two vacancies for parent governors on the school's governing body.
The school's governors are responsible for making high-level decisions including:
· setting the strategic direction, policies and objectives
· approving the budget
· reviewing progress against the budget and objectives
· challenging and supporting senior staff
· playing a part in appointing staff
This is all the more important for Sheldon since it became an Academy in April, meaning it's broken ties with local government.
Parents, foster parents or guardians who would like to be appointed are being invited to put their names forward. If there are more nominees offering to serve than there are vacancies there will be an election by secret ballot among the existing governing body.
Candidates will need to be proposed and seconded by parents of pupils registered at the school. The nominations form is available on Sheldon's website. All nominations should be returned to Juile Hawtin, Clerk to the Governors, via the school by September 30.
Information on volunteering as a School Governor is available at direct.gov
or you may email the clerk jhawtin@sheldonschool.co.uk.
