Road closed in Chippenham following house fire

A road in Chippenham will be closed for most of the day after a fire broke out in a derelict building. 

London Road, Chippenham will remain closed until the derelict building near the Pack Horse Pub is considered safe. 

The road is closed from Blackcross junction and the town side of Abbeyfield School. 

Fire and Rescue services from both Chippenham and Corsham were called to the unused property at around 10:50pm last night after a fire broke out. 

The fire was extinguished however the building now remains in the fragile condition. Inspections will take place to determine the safety of the building.  

At around 8am this morning a fire crew from Melksham attended the scene to relieve the other crews. 

There are currently no reports on whether the fire is being treated as suspicious.

No one was injured from the fire.

London Road will remain closed for most of the day.
