Christmas Comes Early To Chippenham

It may only be June but Chippenham Town Council is already thinking about Christmas with the launch of a new competition for children to design some festive decorations.
In a bid to make this Christmas in Chippenham a bit sparklier than the last the council has decided to decorate the town with new light-up decorations.
Avenue La Fleche will get new illuminated motifs on the lampposts. And bulbs in older decorations will be replaced.
And pupils from Chippenham primary schools have the chance to design a motif either as part of an after school activity or as part of an art lesson, which will go next to the Christmas tree in the Market Place.
The winning design will be reproduced as a line drawing as close to the child's original as possible and will be manufactured into an aluminium frame with the use of LED rope light to create the design.
The winning child will play special guest at the light switch on event on Friday 18th November.

That's pretty cool. My students design their own decorations for the holidays and we post them up for the month. They get a lot of ideas online from sites like http://tinyurl.com/4267nrx It's creative and fun!
