Burglars break into tea room for a bit of cake in Chippenham

Wiltshire Police are appealing for information after a tea room in Chippenham was burgled leaving the tea room vandalised.

Between 10:45pm Monday, 28, January and 8:30am on Tuesday, 29, January 2013, burglars broke into the Dutch Cottage, St Mary Street, Chippenham, in search of cash. 

It is believed the burglars gained entry into the tea room near the United Reformed Church car park. 

The offenders took a small amount of money including around £10 from the tips jar which was smashed. 

It was also discovered the offenders ate a large piece of coffee cake during the break in. 

PC Verity Ruffell of Chippenham Police said: "Whoever carried out this burglary left a lot of mess behind which upset owners and staff."

"I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual or suspicious late on Monday night or early on Tuesday, or who has any information about who was involved, to call me at Wiltshire Police on 101."
