Bonfire night in Chippenham: Where to watch firework displays
By Lois_Avery | Friday, October 14, 2011, 16:21
Bonfire night is fast approaching in Chippenham so if you're planning where to watch the best firework display, read on.
Chippenham has two big events every year to remember November 5. One in the town centre, in Monkton Park, organised by the local Rotary Club. The other is in Christian Malford, organised by the local parish council.
The Christian Malford event is growing by the year and, in my opinion, has the bigger bonfire!
It's a bit of a drive out of town (towards Lyneham if you're not familiar) but shuttle buses operate on the evening to carry people between the event and Chippenham town centre.
This year's spectacle will kick off at the recreation ground in the village on Saturday November 6 at 6pm until 9.30pm.
There will be a guy competition at 6pm, (the winner will light the fire at 6.30pm), free sparklers for the children, food and bar, toffee apples, mulled wine, bouncy castles.
Discounted Advance tickets available from the Christian Malford Village Shop, or the Rising Sun.
(Due to the popularity of this event it may be necessary to restrict numbers, to guarantee entrance please buy an advance ticket)
Details of the buses haven't yet been confirmed, last year it picked up outside the pine shop on the town bridge. Go to the Village website for more details www.christianmalford.org or contact Philip.hines@virgin.net
